rapid vs overnight solutions, which is right for you?

If you're considering getting a spray tan, you may have noticed that salons and technicians offer different types of tanning solutions. Two of the most common options are rapid rinse and 8-hour overnight formulas. So what's the difference between these two spray tan varieties? Let's take a look:

Rapid Rinse Spray Tan Solution or "express" spray tan solution is designed to be rinse in just a couple of hours. Think of it more like a slow release option, as the solution still needs a full 24 hours to fully develop.

Advantages:

  • Leave on for about 2-4 hours rather than overnight, so no stained sheets.

  • Decreased risk of staining due to shorter wear time

  • Ideal for those who have obligations same day that they can’t have spray tan solution on for

Disadvantages:

  • Must be rinsed at the recommended time (2-4 hours), if not rinsed properly your tan can over proces resulting in an orange toned tan.

  • Bronzers for rapid rinses are generally more intense.

8-Hour Overnight Spray Tan Solution as the name implies, are left on the skin anywhere from 8-12 hours while you sleep. The solution stops developing at that point allowing you to sleep soundly and not need to rinse at any particular time after that 8 hour mark.

Advantages:

  • No need to rinse at recommended time as the solution stops developing. This creates less room for error.

  • This option can be left on overnight so no need to run errands while your tan is developing

  • An 8 hour solutions Initial bronzer is more true-to-color then a rapid rinse solution.

Disadvantages:

  • Longer wear time.

Which Solution is Best? This really has to do mostly with what you have planned the rest of your day following your appointment. Your spray tan technician should be able to help guide you in the right direction.

Regardless of which one you choose, both options will leave you with a beautiful bronzing glow.
