how often should you be getting spray tanned?

If you're a fan of that just-back-from-the-beach radiance, then you've probably considered spray tanning. Unlike the old-school tanning beds, spray tans provide a safe, UV-free tan that looks incredibly natural. But one question always comes up - how often should you get sprayed to maintain that continuous bronzed glow?

The truth is, there's no one-size-fits-all answer for how frequently to get spray tanned. Several factors like the spray tan solution type, your skincare routine, and your desired tan depth will determine the right frequency for you. Here how you’ll now it you’re ready for your next tan:

  1. You have no old, residual spray tan or self tanner on when you arrive to your appointment. Make sure to exfoliate it off with either a glove or scrub.

  2. Your skin is properly prepped. You can refer to our prep and aftercare instructions here.

If you follow these two steps then you are ready for your next tan.

The most common trends I see in the frequency of regular clients is either:

Every 14ish days : For the girl who likes to have a tan for events and doesn’t mind a few days without color. If you prefer a more subtle sun-kissed look, you likely won't need to get sprayed as often. Most light spray tans will start to fade around the 7-10 day mark. Visiting your tanning salon every week or week-and-a-half is typical for maintaining that soft, healthy glow.

Every 7ish days : For the girl who knows spray tanning is life
Those wanting a more consistent tan will need to get sprayed a bit more frequently, around every 7 days. This is one of the most common spray tan schedules to keep your color from fading between applications while still looking very natural.

Regardless of how frequently you get sprayed, extending the life of your tan will require some upkeep on your end. Exfoliating, moisturizing, and using tan extenders between visits will help maximize your results between.

Your spray tan technician should be able to help you determine how often you should be booking.
